In considering a nomination, what criteria are important or necessary? The answer is: A person of any age who has unselfishly helped friends, neighbors, and strangers; and contributed as a volunteer to our community.
Guidelines require parameters. A decision was made that a person nominated should be, or has recently been, a resident of the Town; has provided services over a period of time; has provided services beyond those performed as part of paid employment; has been an inspiration to others; and has performed civic deeds in an exemplary manner outside of a career in politics.
In looking for people who have made our community a better place to live, it is recognized that the Board of Directors must exercise common sense and good judgment in selecting a recipient.
Citizens in Needham are invited to submit nominations for candidates to the Richard Patton Melick Foundation, P.O. Box 101, Needham, MA 02192.
Supporting information in narrative form should accompany the nomination.Your name and telephone number should be included; and the names of one or two other people who know the candidate.
In summary and in simplest terms: The goal of the Foundation is to recognize a person who has made special contributions which have benefitted others - which by their very nature significantly affect the quality of life for all.
